There are two ways to move your subscriptions: direct import from a supported service over its API, which keeps your favourites and read state, or an OPML file if your app isn’t on the list. The free-plan limit does not apply during import — every feed comes over.
Direct import is available from Inoreader, Feedly, Feedbin, BazQux, NewsBlur and The Old Reader — you pick your service, sign in, and Readine pulls in your subscriptions along with your favourites and unread items. This is the recommended way.
The second way is an OPML file. Almost all reading apps provide it, and it carries the feeds but not the marks or the history.
An OPML file also protects you if a service shuts down. You take your data with you in that file and move it somewhere new.
For an extra fee Readine lets you copy articles into your cloud storage or into Obsidian, so you lose less when you migrate.
In Readine, start adding a new feed and pick your old app. The import wizard will guide you through the steps.
If your app is not on the list, export OPML from that app’s settings — usually an “export subscriptions” item — and add the file.
Feeds are added immediately; older articles load in the background. New articles appear only if the feed is active and paid for.
After import, sort the sources into folders and check that the channels and authors you need are in place.
Some services show paid articles only after you sign in. For example, Substack, Boosty, Fanbox, Patreon and Sponsr, or private Telegram chats and channels. You add these sources by hand, separately from the rest, and for that you also need to buy the password-protected feeds module. Payments to the author still go through their own platform.
| Source | What to do |
|---|---|
| Sites, blogs, playlists | nothing: the feeds are already in the file |
| Telegram channels | add by name, and for private ones — access through a separate module |
| Substack, Boosty, Fanbox, Patreon, Sponsr | the password-protected feeds module and access to your subscription tier |
| Author newsletters | add as an ordinary source |
Q: Which services support direct import?
A: From Inoreader, Feedly, Feedbin, BazQux, NewsBlur and The Old Reader. If your service is not on the list, OPML is the fallback.
Q: Does import count against the 3-feed free-plan limit?
A: No. The limit does not apply during import — all subscriptions come over.
Q: Will favourites and unread items be kept?
A: With direct import, yes, if the service exposes them. OPML transfers only subscriptions.
Q: Will the feeds start updating at once?
A: It depends on your payment level. Check each feed in its settings.
Q: How do I get my subscriptions out?
A: You can export OPML at any time, without contacting support. For a copy of your articles, set up export to cloud storage or Obsidian in advance.
3 feeds free, no time limit and no ads. Import transfers all feeds regardless of the plan.
