Boosty is a service where authors run blogs for subscribers. The Readine app makes reading more comfortable and adds features Boosty doesn’t have. You do not need to visit Boosty every day.
An author’s posts live on Boosty. There’s no way to search across all authors — you can only search within a single author’s blog. You don’t get local copies either. If you don’t remember where you read something, finding it again will be very hard.
A copy appears as soon as you add the author. You buy the password-protected feeds module, connect a Boosty account, choose the author. After that new posts arrive in Readine, and you do not need to visit Boosty for them.
| What | On Boosty | In Readine |
|---|---|---|
| Search in what you have read | only inside the blog of one author | across all sources at once, by text, notes and tags |
| Posts | on the site | downloaded in advance and stay with you |
| A new post | visible when you visit the Boosty site | arrives in Readine, alongside everything else |
| Videos and live streams | on Boosty right away | a link to Boosty |
Offline, the full text of the post and its images are available. The copy is downloaded in advance and stays even if the author deletes the post.
Notes and tags help sort posts, and search covers the full text and all authors. For the feed, you can set up rules and keyword notifications.
You can also export to files: to cloud storage or to Obsidian.
You pay for the author’s subscription separately on Boosty. Readine lets you read even paid posts in one place, without extra apps.
You watch videos and live streams on Boosty. They aren’t available offline and aren’t saved to a file, to save bandwidth and device space. Comments also stay on Boosty.
Updates in the feed arrive on a schedule, and you can set how often.
| What | How |
|---|---|
| Payment to the author | on Boosty, not in Readine |

| Plenty of other small things | try them in the app |
