Exporting articles for your own AI tools

The quality of a summary or a paraphrase depends on the AI model, so Readine doesn’t build them in — it hands you the article text as a file. Then it’s up to you what to do with it — feed it to an AI model, process it with a script or keep it in a personal archive.

What is lost

What you have read stays inside the app

You read an article, close it, and a month later you can’t find it — it has drifted down the feed, and you no longer remember where it was.

To process what you have read, some people install a second app and an intermediate integration service. The chain between them sometimes breaks, and you have to fix it manually.

Readine does it differently — it gives the text as a file. You can apply an export rule to all feeds or only to selected ones, to all new articles or only to those that match the condition.

The export rule: what you set up in it

First the rule selects suitable articles by two criteria: which feeds and which articles. The feeds are all or only the indicated ones. The articles are new ones or only those that fit the condition. The condition itself checks whether a given word appears in the full text of the article, in the title or in a tag.

Next, you choose where to save it. You can export to the cloud or to Obsidian. Inside the vault you indicate which folder to save into and how to arrange the articles into subfolders. You can configure the file and folder names — whether they include the publication date, the feed name and the title.

Export to cloud storage works with Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and Yandex Disk. Choose the file format: HTML or DOCX. The file contains the full text of the article with pictures. The export rule triggers only for new articles.

When you export to Obsidian, the file is saved as Markdown. The file contains the full text of the article with pictures, tags and notes. The export rule triggers for new and old articles. You can also add a check for the read flag or for being in your favourites.

Video and other files are not downloaded, and GIFs turn into a static picture. This keeps data usage and disk space down.

What you can do with it

A model, a script or a knowledge base

You can feed the text from the files to an AI model to get a summary, an analysis or a translation. You can process it with your own scripts: sort it by topic, build a selection, count mentions, drop what you don’t need, merge it into a larger file or, vice versa, split it into smaller parts.

You can put together an archive that survives both a move to another app and the service shutting down.

FAQ
In short

Questions about files

Q: Where do the files end up?

A: In cloud storage: Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive or Yandex Disk. Or in your Obsidian vault.

Q: Can I avoid exporting every article?

A: Yes. The rule can select the articles that fit the condition.

Q: Can exported files be imported back into the app?

A: No, the export is one-way. The files stay with you, and the rule does not delete them from the cloud.

Q: Is this a paid feature?

A: Yes, you can try it free for 3 weeks, no card needed. Cloud export and Obsidian export are paid separately. You can buy only what you need.
